The day started with freezing conditions, luckily blue skies prevailed or there would have been 9 ice blocks chasing fish.

As it was the water temp was way down and the air temp and wind chill factor was really miserable, yet the brave 8 got in and started the days outing, not me I stayed out for ages, to cold to begin with, several hot cuppas and then I was ready, lol.

The waters vis was a low 2 to 3 metres to begin with and ended up at about 12 meters at the last spot and with the clearer water came 4 degrees warmer water that was excellent!

The first pic was a little weird, ducks on the beach?

These two were obviously hoping we would give up a collected fish or two, no way!

The vis here was okay but the next pic shows the last spot much better.

Always lots of copper bands here, or as Rod would say, corrpurbunds.

This was the smallest of all the akindynos,at this today, nice bubble as well.

[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Heaps and heaps of banded shrimp in the shallows.

One of my favourite reef tank additions to collect, the ascidians look and live well in a reef tank.

A cocky little blenny making its presence known, as some sponge was collected.

A jellyfish egg sack; this is where the many standard jelly fish come from, that was told to me by our avid fisherman and very keen reefer and collector ignobolis,I had no idea of this.

Some of what was collected.

A couple of the guys are into chaetodons,a nice unimaculatus tear drop.

This part of the shore crab family-plagusia is a veracious algae eater, the larger types will harm your fish at night, this one just mows down all cyano and hair algae in particular.

Another wonderful trip and all 9 of us brought home another pet or two to appreciate what we achieve in the ocean †areas of Queenslands south east.

It was a bit cold to me and my humble 3mm shortie wetsuit. I will use my old 5mm next time, Iím not sure if it still fit though.

I am glad you like it Peter, when you get tired of it I can send you new one! Laughing

Hey guys it was good to see you all again, we had a fantastic day. Jess would like to thank everyone, she really enjoyed your company and found the conversations very entertaining and informative. If she's welcome I might bring her along occasionally and shes happy to chip in for any expenses. Liquidg's skills never cease to amaze me, I didn't even bother with those two angels because they were in a very difficult spot. I have no idea how but down he went and in 5 minutes had both. All I have to offer is a few corrpurbunds for Rabucazz to choose between!!

I will stop asking for them anyway as I expect to catch my own in the next trip. If it makes you guys happy I can keep saying that everytime we meet up. Laughing

Thanks Mike, I sent you a PM.

Mike you got the scopaz, that's a very good catch. Surprised

Poor Rod,he is never going to live down the copperbands bit because of his accent.

I do regret one thing from the day, I did not get a pic of your friends squid she caught, thatís some serious calamari there, mmmm, love calamari!

If she can tolerate us, the way she handled her free diving and just gets into the ocean to do her thing, she is welcome to come along,I am sure all would agree on that.

cheers
