Hey guys, anyone know where can you buy drill bits for making holes in glass?
Something like 3 centimetres in diameter would do.

Yer Bunnings or Masters....

Normally in the tile section....

They are a cylinder shape about 12cm long and silver typically, having a thicker rough cutting edge, cost about $25 to $40 for 35mm.....its very easy to cut, so long as you go slow and keep it wet....

Cool

Thanks dude, much appreciated and I will follow your advice, you see I called them and no go so after your advice went in this morning and found them myself cheers
Just a little extra brain pick for every one,I read on another site that some ones acro has brown or even bleaching at the base with the use of LED lights mine do that and use LED lights, what do you think it is?

Your question can lead into some quite technical explanations - keeping it short....there are a few things that will cause this - though shop bought stuff typically comes from pristine waters and have perfect conditions - so colours are great but fade in our tanks over time...

1. Poor LED light quality - not enough power to penetrate the waters depth (measure your LUX & PAR values)
2. Insufficient colour spectrum - not enough of the correct colours to support the corals
3. Poor feeding of corals
4. Poor water quality

I’m sure other here can explain or add better details....but its a starting point

My experience has been the opposite - I came from T5HO and went to LED with the acros changing to nice colorations within 2 weeks - and improving all the time.... (see the LED build section)

Good luck !

Hey Dazza you still at the hobby,I thought you had finished, lol.

The issue with your leds is the out put of your fitting over all, maybe your diodes are a bit weak in wattage and colours or not enough diodes or to high off the water, plus you need a mix of optics, the degrees to stop some of this from happening and if you can have faned cooled fittings, they can have far more diodes per area.

The light as it goes into the coral or any cluster of photosynthetic life forms is literally dragged in by the earlier photosynthetic algae in the corals cells, so by the time it gets down the sections of stag acro, the light is getting weaker in content.

Plus the corals waste and crap in the tank can be caught in the lower reaches of stags and pollute the lower polyps and algae not conducive to coral life will grow on this waste, and the lower reaches of stags are made up of mostly coralline and not many polyps and it needs some serious light to photosynthesis and good flow through there and not just sit and get sick and covered.

More power in the lights, more spread of light and keep the coral clean, oh and another thing if you do not have lots of alga somewhere to take up the proteins, (they can cause coral to appear as if browning off), you have to be skimming well and truly!!

When the corals are of a bright colour, these colours mean the pigments with in the algae are active as to whatever algae the corals have takne up for its extra food source via the algae’s photosynthesising rubbish-organic carbon into sugars.

With power full light that’s needed for sps as is the sun,the oceans uneven surface from chop or waves redirects the light all over the place so all parts of the oceans shallows get adequate light, with in reason.

Try to mimic this if you can and keep your corals clean.
