Only ever use what's labelled food grade with no stabilisers hydrogen peroxide and if used incorrectly, hydrogen peroxide is dangerous!!

This is the 35 percent pure i use for health and aquariums use. The bottle is old, its over 7 years old with only 50 percent used, peroxide lasts for a very long time.
This one is food grade, meaning it has no stabilisers as they are all toxic. This one is recommended for human health uses, i use it for flues as such but more so for killing off aquarium pests and boosting oxygen levels in my aquarium quicker with no harm!.

My findings with pure 35 percent hydrogen peroxide, obviously increase the does rate if not using pure
I have been using it since late 2010, "after a mate called Simon said he used it" so in "so many ways", "in my display tanks", before that just here and there while being scared of it, like many others.

Okay I use the pure food grade one and it is potentially dangerous, it will explode if let get extremely hot, it will eat away at your skin, that happened to me, my silly mistake, all good now just a small scare, if it is treated properly, it is as safe as houses.
Originally it was as a varied experiments thing only and surprisingly I found it blitzes any and all of what is thought to be good for reef aquariums.
Most folks confuse its functions of bleaching as actual bleach!
Bleach is from chlorine, chlorine, once the chloride component of salt, this one does transform but that takes time and lives are lost and PH gets screwed up while that happens with life in that water.

H2o2/hydrogen peroxide is just that, one of hydrogen, two of oxygen and one as two more of oxygen, that's all it is and that bind is so delicate!
Light splits it, water splits it, heat splits it back to what it was, pure water and one but actually two extra oxygen molecules, that's that!
Okay with in 2 to 6 seconds in my tanks, from my experiments, its bind is gone.

So what have you once that happens, RO grade fresh water and breathable oxygen going into your reef tank at a miniscule rate.
It's "cons" if used right, except for a slight reduction in anaerobic activity for a "little" while, there aren't any!

Its pros, near all dead spots are gone, hydrogen sulphide reduction is achieved, any fish with parasites or bacterial issues are helped by the higher available oxygen, non symbiotic cyano hates it and quite often, usually dies off, any and all unwanted algae is reduced and if it is used on that algae, it dies, coral symbiotic algae flourishes, they glow!!!, most free swimming parasite are killed off, water clarity is increased by unwanted life in your water being killed off that are to small to see those individuals, shelled plankton, they are unharmed if not shedding at the time, bacterial plankton, it is killed off, if PH is unsuitable it usually returns to favourable levels due to higher oxygen levels, aerobic respiration accelerates taking ammonia past that stage much quicker causing ammonia to be far less toxic, if it does not lift PH the extra oxygen takes out the harmful affects of low PH anyway, it neutralises harmful affects of co2 and ammonia, drops aggression in the usually aggressive fish species, small gill plated species are much more relaxed, quite often this enables sick fish to completely recover.

Basically there are no cons! I have not used the regular grade of 3 percent peroxide, I use the pure food grade version, the industrial versions are made up of some toxins called stabilizers, so don't use them.

More
What i do is ID an area i want to hit because of algae or what ever, then i hit it each second day with 4 mill at half a mill each spot for each 20 mill or so area, for each of those days, 2 times per week. Once i did it each day for three weeks to clear up my laziness letting some hair algae get going, it was amazing, it worked great. Its one of those things that you do it to suit what you want. It will not harm anything, bar very primitive rubbish life forms.
I found that with in 20 millimetres of coralline it kills off the edge of it, though in three weeks it has recovered. If you want to kill something, turn off flow and add it via syringe to that things base, right up against the rock or what ever it is on at half a mill per spot.
If you are just adding it to your aquarium to help with water quality, don't just put it into the water, leave flow going, put in via a syringe on an area that does not have anything you like with in 30 mill of where it will be syringed to, then all that happens is masses or pure oxygen bubbles rise for a few seconds to a few minutes and at that exact spot, what ever was there gets hit with pure fresh water and what equates to enough oxygen to oxidise what ever is there. Corals flesh, unless directly hit seems to at worst go into slight shock if with in 20 to 30 mill of syringed peroxide, then the next day seemingly it is far healthier.
You will learn that what ever is not directly hit by the peroxide with in 1 to 4 seconds of you plunging that syringe, suffers no ill affects. With in just a few seconds it becomes nothing but pure freshwater and breathable oxygen! 80 percent of that oxygen leaves via bubbles the rest at worst makes your fish seemingly smile by being slightly high on oxygen. You get what i mean, if it is food grade peroxide it is nothing but freshwater and oxygen once it splits, before that, on your skin, on metal or what ever, it sort of acts like mild acid, sort of, and it is dangerous.
Once put in your aquarium, what you put in is of such tiny parts per million in your water, it is almost totally harmless. Try to understand it this way, what happens if a person has something wrong and is given pure oxygen, okay to much is not good, but some is a real life saver, its that simple. "Food grade", okay?, or you will kill tank life!
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hydrogen peroxide acts just like a bleach initially, though with in seconds if in light or once in your aquariums water it will separate to pure fresh water-H20 and extremely concentrated breathable oxygen-O2, so it dilutes very quickly to what equates to harmless water and oxygen.

The best way to use H2O2 for general health and or parasite control is to select a spot on your rock structure near the base of your tank or a spot in your substrate and place the syringe on that spot and squeeze the syringes contents out right there at a half to 1 mill of pure hydrogen peroxide at a time.
But remember that all life at that spot, for around 20 to 30 millimetres will die, including bacteria on and slightly in that rock, so always use the same spot for tank general health from adding of peroxide.
To kill algae at that spot or what ever, leave the tanks flow off for a minute or two, then the tanks flow as per usual, turned back on!
For use in killing parasites and raising tanks oxygen levels, leave the flow on as per usual.

Cyanobacteria and algae are killed more or less instantly, but will take, from days, to a week or two, for it to fall off as it disintegrates.
Parasites larvae are killed instantly, though it is no possible to see this.
The oxygen from the H2O2 is benefiting all life that are not as primitive as basic algae and cyano with in minutes.
It has no affect on algae like caulerpa as such at all, unless you apply the peroxide directly to it.
It has no long term affect on corals or corallines unless you put the syringe on that coral and apply it.

What are the benefits of this added to your saltwater aquarium.
1) It raises oxygen so tangs for instance are less aggressive, fish with oodinium/velvet have a much greater chance at surviving due to their gills not being so over worked while under attack by the velvet protist and would subsequently suffer life threatening damage after 24 to 48 hours of accelerated breathing.
Also it makes the existence in your aquariums water for diatoms and other non symbiotic basic algae's spores and cyano very hard, to near on impossible.

2) It helps prevent PH collapses.

3) Improves water clarity.

4) Increases the speed in which the nitrogen cycle functions.

5) Removes ammonia at an accelerated speed from your water.

6) Speeds up tank life's bio functions in only positive ways in "all valued tank life" giving them a much stronger immune system response to any issues including white spot and velvet and bacterial.

7) With elevated oxygen levels unwanted algae finds it hard to exist as with cyanobacteria.

8)Better and more quality from your tanks lighting as wave lengths are not interfered thus reaching your corals and all of the rest of your tank life.

9) Does away with dead spots/low oxygen areas in your tank with out damaging anoxic/anaerobic zones functions.

10) Kills off white spot and velvet larvae and raises oxygen levels enabling fish to recover much better and fight off white pot and velvet.

The negatives of using it.
1) Used with a syringe with in 20 mill of your corals-anemones, etc, etc, this may irritate that coral or coralines.

2) Your nitrate test levels may increase slightly for a few days, then return to normal.
That's it!

3) Some planktonic life, if with in a shed, will die in the first few minutes, after that no affect on planktonic bacteria and actual plankton.

The syringe i use.
I reach into the tank with syringe ready, sit the syringe on the infected section of rock, lift back less then 1 mill, but normally i leave the syringe against the rock then apply the syringes contents, at roughly a half to 1 mill per spot.
With in seconds of applied peroxide there will be masses of pure oxygen bubbles coming from that area, its harmless!
Its up to you, but pure peroxide acts the same as bleach at the actual spot when applied, but with out the acidic action that will screw up PH like actual bleach.
PH is not adversely affected by peroxide, it will actual help with good PH.

The syringe is filled, or partly filled with pure peroxide when i use it, not diluted in any way.

The concentrated oxygen component of it is very corrosive and harmful to all life if used incorrectly, even us, that's what you are using partly to get rid of hair algae.
The uses for food grade pure hydrogen peroxide with marine aquariums, "not industrial peroxide it has harmful components in it", food grade only is to be used are-
Two ways to clear your tank of algae, cyano and or dinoflagellates, etc. etc.

1)The more gentle way but not the way I prefer is to turn your lights off leaving entire system running as per usual and cover your tank to keep other light out.
Dose your tank 1 mill per 50 litres of tank water of pure peroxide once at day break and the next at the start of night, so basically 2 to maybe 3 times per 24 hours period.
Do this for 2 to 3 days all up.
This way will kill off all cyanobacteria, dinoflagellates and hair algae leaving corals, fish, crabs and whatever, unaffected.
