First time marine

Post  noddy89 on 12th January 2014, 10:47 am

Hi all, this is my first effort at maintaining a tank filled with the salty stuff.
Specs are;
2' tank
twin T5 HO
Aqua One G Series skimmer (overkill I know but it was given to me)
wave maker (2000lph)
Powerhead (2500lph)
Canister filter with carbon and phos bags
1/4hp chiller

Inhabitants;
oyster blenny (collected)
pistol shrimp (hitch hiker)
decorator crab (hitch hiker)
2 Tangs- juvenile, unknown species (collected)

morphs- purple, purple/blue, green
green Zoas
2 purple Goniopora (collected)
large, small polyp xenia colony
1 Duncan
orange & green Zoa
1 leather

Will be upgrading to a 4' tank soon. (minister of war and finance disagrees! well see who wins the battle...)

Awesome blue/green, pink edged morph I think

Goniopora still opening out. picture taken about an hour after introducing

Pineapple Fish- Cleidopus gloriamaris- going to see how it goes. I've got a whole lot of boxer shrimp but it doesn't seem interested. Might trap some feeder fish and see how that goes. Has Anybody had success with these? Its only been in for 2 days so I know its a bit early for it to be settled. I've re-scaped to provide caves to get out of the light but it prefers the open water. The bioluminescent bacteria near its mouth is certainly something different at night viewing

Saddle Valentini Puffer- Canthigaster valentini- Would like to trade for a mimic if anyone is interested? Very Happy

Zoas

Unknown Tangs- I know there is a tang expert on here but I forgot who... anyone have any ideas? Question

That's Acanthurus dussumieri, really pretty fish when fully grown. You can find more information on it here [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]
