Collecting semi temperate tube worms.

Post  liquidg on 1st December 2014, 6:00 am

Finally I got to get some temperate tubeworms as I lost my last ones to Cyclone Oswald in 2013!
I found one a few weeks back where you find one or two that some one had mangled trying to get it and the spots where they are in massive numbers till the January water temps kill near all of them, has finally cleared up.
Danny and I did a free at one of the 3 sites recently that have this event each year and there were many of them dead to already high temps but still heaps still hanging in there.
I only wanted a couple of each variation and sort of the same for Danny.
I was so worried that we would not get there before they all croaked from the summer water temps!
Each year they are pushed up here as juveniles/planktonic with in the last of the south the north current bursts of two we get that take the NSW species as at planktonic sizes north.
There were orange, red/orange, purple/white, white and a few tropical species that neither of us wanted any of.
Now to keep the tanks temps down so they can survive!
