Rose quadricolor anemone expanding tendrils to become bubble like.

Usually when they do this, it is due to dirty waters!
When they take in the surrounding water to make their tendrils quite defined bubble shapes and even breast like in appearance, it is when feeding, breathing and more so to increase the surface area of these tendrils for more photosynthetic activity.

That's one beautiful anemone, worth about $600-$900 here in the US. I turned the LEDs up on my wife's tank and hers bubbled more, turned it back down and they look like a LT anemone, go figure. I can't tell you how indispensable this sort of info is to those of us that keep these guys 1/2 way around the world, thanks!

It’s interesting hey, in the shallows and in wave affected areas they are always long slender tendrils and when deeper they are always more bubble like, this one has only been at that site for maybe 1 year and two weeks back we had clear waters and it was slender, this time it was bubble like and this I have seen many times.
In my bottom tank with weak but good spectrum led lighting, I had one split and it was always bubble like and up high, I put the smaller one as the split in the top tank with far better lighting and up the top and it would not bubble up, till I fed the tank each time or dropped the temp and it bubbled up.
I use to think that they use lighting as a signal to feed and still do, to a degree, but I must admit with leds they are more or less weak lighting compared to the sunlight and resistance lighting having near no ultra violet radiation, so to me in a way leds are like dirty water lighting, still great and would not use anything else, but of course with great waters relatively weak lighting means not that much with good water quality But then I tested the waters many years back and found that when lights were full on, the waters PH improved quite quickly from photosynthetic activities, very slightly but that may be a switch as well to expand.
Any way I have always found that with poor water quality they rarely take on bubble shapes.
