Obviously optics is important, so for that how deep is your tank or how many sps variations do you intend on keeping?
Okay colours and diode brands, they are all much of a muchness these days so bridgelux or cree, its all good.
The main colours are, standard blue and cool white, they should make up the majority of your light fitting, then for common algae, red to red orange and to bring out the red in sps go with true green diodes, cyan is good for encrusting corals and then a mix of just a couple royal blue and warm white covers most all that you need.
It has always been known that the lights are important, but no where near as important as flow, water quality and food.

Well I was thinking a 165w full sepectrum light off eBay. I have been reading they can do sps but not 100% sure, was looking at having birds nest, montipora, pocillapora and green slimmer pretty easy corals apparently, also need to make a sump so and ideas there will also help my new build

Yeh that light will be fine, just make sure it can be dimmed, a part form that on and off is fine for corals.
Sump ideas no problem.
Ask away.
Put up the specs for the light just to be sure.
