The 4 two foot 10 watt led tubes in this pic are on for 20 hours per day, all up for over 5 years and still have full photosynthetic strength.
They grow my importing algae species, the others I bought back then are on for 14 hours per day over one of my display tanks and over my holding tubs.

This type of fluro replacement tube needs the ballast and starter taken out and just positive one end and the other negative, everything is built into then tube and on they go.
In great water quality they grow sps at a depth of 10 to 15 inches into the water, lps all the way to the bottom of the tank and all algae forms and colour up the tank quite well.

Its not just lighting you need to grow corals really well, with weak lighting of good over all colour wave lengths that can be achieved by standard blue leds and especially cool white leds that carry all colours, the most important thing is what ever is produced in your water or added that equates to waste organic matter as in foods, algae shedding's and the waste from any and all life in your aquarium, if you get these out of your water each day at the end of the day if possible, so much more can be done for your aquariums success!

It should be interesting to see when they begin to fail, if the estimate is correct, they should last 10 to 15 years.
Not bad for $18 each to my door.
