Yamaha XJ to FJ motorcycles
The XJ Yamaha has a place in my heart as they were the best of the best for their day in reliability power and comfort.
They were the police bike of choice for ages as they just kept going and the secret to them was mainly the shaft drive.
Very few shaft drive bikes of smaller than 1200ccs are made any more and are quite rare these days compared to the 80s and 90s because they require very little maintenance and the bike makers make very little money on spare parts and repairs with them.
The XJ has become the FJ these days and is a 1300cc bike.
This is the first of the XJs,it was a 650 turbo first sold in 1981.
These are the XJ 900 and 750 from 1981 to early 2000s.
The latest J is the FJR 1300,very nice!
SHaft drives, just three percent lose in power over chaines,no maintenance and just a soft wistling sound from the shaft drive and no chaine grinding away.

Nah,used to have the original XJ 900 just have a copy now and just saw the new fjr, very nice.
No way vawn, you have to have a fairin,it's got to look sporty
Shame the new FJR is around $16000.
Such are the breaks.
