When a whale and boat collide Empty When a whale and boat collide

The following pic is the after affects of the guys at Raby bay rescues meeting up with one of the many whales around the Straddie and moreton islands areas of late.

We went out for a splash today and had a yak to them about their adventure.

It was just getting to the pitch black time of night out there, that would have been very scary, the guys said that they didn’t have the time to avoid it with that much night time blackness.

I feel for the guys as to the initial fear felt of hitting something at night out there, oh and it’s a shame the whale has what ever injuries, if it survived!

The rescue guys have helped us a few times in years gone by, so even though this happened they are important and do a very good job at keeping all of us safe out there.

One of our clubbies went night fishing and a whale hit there boat around 12 years back, and another time a large tiger shark hit one of the guys boats of Peel island, I hate night time boating, good on the ones brave enough to move around at night in a boat.

Saw this on the news .. hope the poor whale is doing ok.. the boys were very lucky to get back safely by the looks of that damage .
I have heard about a white pointer one time hanging off an out board motor , not sure how true that was !

It does happen!

My dad and his mate were out fishing at Brays point at Caloundra around 26 years back and a white started hanging around the out rigger canoe they were in with a blunt rear end with a small outboard engine.

They foolishly got worried while it was around them and started the engine(you don't do that,it aggrivates the shark) and the 10 footer, (approx) attacked the prop, scared the hell out of them!

They got back okay, there is a boat ramp in open ocean on that point just 3 hundred yards away from where they were, but after that the engine was vibrating a lot on the way back.

I have herd from one other guy I knew when we lived at Cottesloe at Perth, this happened as well in a tiny to him near Triggs, but he was a serious druggy,he may have imagined it and probably wasn’t even near the ocean at the time, lol.

Lol What a scare that would have been . sure they did not do that again ..
Do you know if the whale in the rescue boat incident was ever tracked ? surely it would have had some sort of injuries with that damage to the boat !
