Parasites in the marine aquarium.

The white spot protist, is of a 48 hour life cycle and exists in the aquarium if a substrate is present no matter what you do.

The protist community that oxidisers the nitrite cycle in a matured marine aquarium once they have grazed upon your bacterium reducing them down to near zero and they keep it that way, these are very diverse.

The protist that is a parasite to stressed fish is also a mutated protist from constant aquarium inhabitant protists, that means you can never, ever get rid of white spot!

Reduce it, sure you can do that, but in a reef tank or fish only tank with a substrate present, that’s where they will emerge from once excitation educes them via the stressed fishes signalling the white spot to attack! Oh and multiply,lol.

Copper chloride as in cupramine at up to four times the recommended doses works on all parasites very nicely.

Quarantine them in a bucket, tub, what ever, with regular ammo lock added to the water to keep the ammonia none toxic, cascade your waters, have no uvr lighting over this environment, do not allow algae to exist in this, use nothing poress, like rocks, corals, etc.just bits of conduit type of piping that cant roll around in the current for them to hide in.

PH buff your quarantine water is good, but do it slowly and gently as not to harm the fishes gill plates, do this for ten days,2 days to cure white spot, the rest of the 10 days for velvet, than alls good!

Just do sporadic feedings while in quarantine, if you can mature a small bio area as we always have on hand, all the better than using so much ammo lock!

Hang in sushi wrap for a couple of hours for algae eaters, after that it will affect PH and some pellets that have to be eaten,not left behind for others.

If you have a substrate in your aquarium you will always have the possibility if white spot beyond a tank with out it.
