Surfing sunny coast left-hander 6th of April 2012
As of friday it was obvious this was going to be a good mornings surf.
This one guys was semi epic,a small epic, lol,my fav reef surf spot was powering with perfect 3 to 5 foot ground swell produced waves and every 20 mins or so they got to 7 feet, nice!!!!
Ground swell waves attain more speed and so does the surfer on them,it was very cool, after a few spills.
Shame Peter and Luke didn’t want to come along, boy did you guys really miss out, lol.
My first proper surf for two and a quarter years, the boating accident that hurt my shoulder is fine now, what a relief!
There were three other surfers heading out the same time as me and when I left, there were only five still out there,on a wave that good???
The first wave I fell off and rolled down the face into the washing machine, the second I fell off while trying to avoid another surfer, the third was a very steep face and I just jumped off and from the next one on, no matter how big or how steep the face, the fins and rail were virtually singing from the speed of these waves.
It would have been great to have some one I knew to take some pics of us getting a barrel or two, oh well!
What a sport, from 69 till now, I still love it.
Early start.
The shore break.
The waves.
The right hander next door, all goofy footers there today so it was empty..

The secrets are, a hot cuppa on arrival as you watch what the sets are doing, then the most important, a full length steamer
The westerly was a bit cold, but that makes this place work,oh and some swell.
This spot only works from one metre up.

How was the water when you were there, it was pea soup on Sunday?
It will be quite a while until we can go there for some coral collecting and some cray hunting.
To me its the best beach in south east Q for sure!
