Hi guys was nice to meet you up the coast a few weeks back ( I sorted out my password problems)
Collected this little puffer at same location and can't ID it wondering if you can help

Hi Tony,good to meet you on the day mate,it was a nice day up there.

Nice little puffer,not sure of that one mate, it looks a juvenile of potentially two types of Canthigaster,but my books don’t have that exact one in them.

Danny has a more up to date book so I will get him to have a look at it, cute fish though. cheers

i think it is a ambon puffer (canthigaster amboinensis ) in my book spots are white when small and light blue when adult. best distinguished by lined pattern on head around eye at all stages. adulits with large patch of dark blue spots on check, close set in a veritical serices and joining ventrally into thin lines found in.shallow rocky surge zone. maximum length 12 cm. i think this is the fish in picture

That’s a tough one guys,I put that name in for a google search and there are so many different looks with the same latin name.
There were three in there the same as tonysunshine coasts pic,could be they differ with latitudes. Shocked
