Free dive trip boxing day 2012
Another trip to our wonderful coast line and as usual a great time was had.
The day started out as raining when we met up at 5.50am but by the time we got to the ocean that had mostly burnt off and left us with smooth seas, warm waters and not the best vis at only 4 to 6 meters!
The usual life forms were seen, though the banded shrimp were in the hundreds, not for us though.
This is the water when we arrived.
A very rare fish for SEQ,lol.
The puple colouration are masses of Sargent major eggs.
This type of starfish is a carnivore and moves quite quickly for a sea star.
Two well dressed decorator urchins.
Why this is even trying makes no sense, its white, how can it hide that, lol.
Something new,taxifolia,not likely.
Two of almost 11 stonefish seen, all were over a foot long.
One of the many banded shrimp around.
This sea cucumber shows that size does matter, lol.
This nudi is one we haven’t seen before at quite these colours.
The algae has all been burnt off by the oceans high temps leaving plenty of room for the millions of feather sea stars to get out and about for a feed.
There is always a face or ten.
A cone shell fish hunting for some one to kill.
That was the day and we had a ball.

Two critters you seem to have a great eye for - those cone shells and the stone fish....
I guess that once you work in the industry you become very aware of them for obvious reasons....
Great pics mate - thanks for sharing
