Free dive Saturday 16th of February.
This time we got to see another site and how it has been affected by the rains.
The pic quaity is low due to the high levels of sediment.
There are some life forms hanging in that made it past the salinity drop from the rain event caused by that cyclone.
After a good look around to see what was lost from this site, it seems like around 90 to 95 percent of all life forms bit the dust, so its not as bad as it could be.
All feather sea stars died, as is with all peps, banded shrimp and pretty much 99 percent of all inverts.
This is a good result as I was worried the rains would have completely wiped out this site.
The trips conditions started of with rain in Bris as we left and at the site it was fine most of the day, with light winds, warm waters with a little sediment abundant waters to cope with leaving the vis at 2 to 7 meters.
This is the trip.
Average water conditions.
Immense amounts of edible fish species including flat head, parrot, trevally and heaps of bream as you get with these sort of events.
Tell tail signs of death from the rains, the three cunjevoi with grey to white colouration means they have died and are rotting away from access freshwater.
These are brackish creatures so it most have gone down a long ways to kill them!
These are some of the fish seen on the day, that the dirty water allowed some kind of a pic to be taken of.
7 mill vagabond.
Vagabond and friend.
Sweet lip.
A large and a small version of our local dragonets.
A very small puffer.
Four juvenile cleaner wrasse have set up their cleaning business here.
This eel is trying impersonating Marty Feldman.
Lots of banner fish around, this one is mates with a dusky chaetodon.
Slightly larger banners fish by it self, but not for long, they find each other quite quickly.
A few volitans around, no lion fish were wanted and this one was only 40 mill long.
This poor shovelnose ray was caught on a short section of leader line tangled up and going nowhere. We cut it off and I am sure it did a happy dance as it swam off.

Yeh it was good mate, not real clear water though and really we were mainly there to see what survived the rains more then anything. Personally I enjoyed the two and a half hours in the water heaps. To see the new life that has changed in just three weeks since the last time we were there, that sort of thing semi excites me every time.
