Re: Queensland snorkelling and scuba spots
Hi ADMIN - was chatting with a fellow diver today getting the heads up on the S/E and she was saying Amity is rather barren ? as far as sea life goes . Just wandering , what your thoughts are there < have you been there of late .
i always thought it would be one of the better shore dives ? and was thinking of checking it out if it is worth it . ! Also with only 5 days available on the coast free what would you advise to be the best/fun snorkel shore dives . from moreton to the Tweed .

Re: Queensland snorkelling and scuba spots
It can be quite barren mostly but still an easy entry to the water at the jetty,so its quite safe except for the very large sharks in the area at times, normally night time, though they are rarely a risk.
The last one there got some one and the one before that was a 14 foot tiger that was in the shallows beside the jetty rubbing off parasites,it didnt bother any one just provided an awsome site from the safety of the jetty in less than 10 feet of water.
The area should never be dived if water is dirty as there are some very big sharks near there always that show up on the sounder when boating thru there to the bar.
Where the last person was taken, the spot is one we cross over always on the way to the bar and normally a few very large ones show on the sounder, two years back one of the shapes on the sounder was similar size to the boat,20 feet.
The best and most consistant shore dive and free dive in the south east is the south port seaway.
The best shallow boat dive and snorkel is shag rock at straddie and the best snorkel is yellow patch and flinders reef and a resonable one is the wrecks, all at Moreton island.
The best and prettiest with enormous amounts of corals and other inverts as a shallow scuba dive is palm beach reef,if the vis is good.
