Fernvale,one of the Best freshwater swimming spots near brisbane

This township is edged by a river system on two sides,west and north and this water that runs all the time is Brisbanes water supply as it is released from the dams to feed the treatment plant a ways down stream.
This early part of the Brisbane river is full of lung fish,turtles and fresh water mullet to name a few of the ubundance of life the continual water provides for.
The bird life here boasts a huge varity of finches,kingfishes and many other forms of native bird life that at times takes a bit of concentration to notice them.
This lovely water way that has home made rope swings,fast rapids,slow rapids and lazy romantic sections of the river for the young at heart and a long winding back drop of the best nature can provide especialy with a few friends on a two day canoe trip and staying at one of the many river side plateaus with a small tent and some one at the end of the best areas to pick you up and take you home.

Been lookin for a good swimmin spot.. i know of Mt Tamborine, and Springbrook but might have to go there first. Can you pm me the name of the road that its on?

Sorry daedsled i don't know the name of the road,i have been going there for over thirty years and never knew the name of the roads there.

Just go to fernvale out past ipswich,its on the road to esk and when you come into the township turn into the road at the iga store on the right there and follow that road out for a while,it turns to dirt road for quite a while than you get to the bridge you park where ever you want and find a spot,some times on a hot day on weekends it gets very busy.

Than the other spot is you just go straight thru the township and keep going past the lowood turn off and just as you come to a large sweepng corner before the next large bridge you find a side road,turn left onto it and the swimming area is a hundred yards or so down there,thats a top spot but more people know of that one than the first spot.

This one is sought of better because some one has normally put up a rope swing some where along this spot,very good fun!!!

Ah yep. If me and some mates decide to go out there i'll just google earth it and find where it is.

I know the Fernvale area a little bit, i've bought two cars from there.. but never seen that creek before.

Its the start of the brisbane river and as you got hrough fernvale to esk or wivanhoe you cross it just out of town.
