Local sea horse in very healthy numbers this year.
It's been maybe 25 years since I have seen these little guys in these sort of numbers and it’s illegal to collect them any way, so please respect that law!
This law I only found out about via a commercial collector last year, being it’s hard to find the info on the net with just simple searches.
These wild sea horses require near the opposite of captive bred sea horses and are far more cute and colour adaptive as well being that they have very strong instincts and active natural motivations compared to captive bred from way back before regulations were connected with them.
Even if they were able to be collected, why bother!
There have been many each time I have gotten fish food over the last 3 months in the shallows just roaming around and quite visible and you have to watch where you step at two sites in order to make sure that you don't harm any.
I hate to think of how may are killed by big feet of any that are not aware that they are there and this year in huge numbers, this includes from the fast paced collection of peps!
These little guys will be wiped out when the rains come again as it has happened for some years now, its just this year with ocean temps and the immense life in the massive rains silt of invertebrate life have made this year, the year of the sea horse!
Guys any one collecting at the low tides, please be careful and respect these little guys space!
These pics are of two I saw while getting a couple of oyster treats for my fish. The largest would not stay still for some pics so with the sun setting, the shutter speed slows and the fast swimming large guys in those pics are blurry and no good at all.
187 pics to look through and only four turned out okay.
