Trip to Great Keppel Island
Hey Guys,
Just came back from a trip to Great Keppel with the family. I went there as a kid when the resort was up and running however the resort is closed now and the place is very quiet. We were there in the middle of the School hols and at time we had the beach to ourselves.
Following pics taken at Monkey Beach. I was really surprised at the amount of coral and marine life. All in all a great little holiday, very family friendly.
Pic heavy.
.
1. Pic of Monkey Beach, at least a football field of coral reef to explore, just around the corner from our accommodation
2. Purple Coral field
3. Close up
4. Red tint to this coral
5. Clam
6. Close up clam
7. Green coloured coral, I was told the cooler colours was due to the colder water compared to up North
8. Some large butterfly fish
9. A gurnard which I scared in the sand by accident
10. Awesome Wobby, a bit differed to the local one's down here, very broad across the head
11. cute little cod
12. Took a while but finally found one big rock full of clown fish and anemones.
13. cool little coral
14. Huge coral, I was told its a brain coral and grows 1mm per year, this thing was at least 6ft across
15. Close up
16. The view from the bar/bistro at the end of the day
tks for looking
Cheers, Farmer
