Do marine aquarium fish sleep?
They do not sleep as we do, they go into a semi trance waiting fot the light to come on/sun come up.
What folks should do is also ask, is there any use for 24/7 lighting??
Then they are told full aquarium lighting to suit your needs, i run it for 12 to 14 hours as told by biologists friends more then 30 years ago at tropical times.
I use a weak non phototsynthetic light at the back of my tank the rest of the time, some use moonlight lighting for night time use which also works well.
At complete darkness, fish are touched by brittles, basic sea stars, crabs, hermits and mush more, then they, at times, shit them selves and jump out, or into and anemone or predatory corals or scratched by coral and so on!
Always use some light at night time and fish are much safer and relaxed!!
oh and the cat gets far less fish off the carpet!
