Saltwater, chlorine and bleach! What do they have in common?
Saltwater is extremely corrosive or could be described as degrading to many substances.
Chlorine is in most household bleaches!
These words sectioned off in brackets are not my words, these are all from sites about chemicals.
(Bleach refers to many products with applications ranging from whitening laundry to killing germs to making paper. Bleaches work by altering chemical compounds, either adding oxygen by the process called oxidation, or by removing oxygen by the process called reduction. Chlorine is a component of some kinds of bleaches, though not all of them.)
And what is chlorine
(Large amounts of chlorine are used in many industrial processes, such as in the production of paper products, plastics, dyes, textiles, medicines, antiseptics, insecticides, solvents and paints. Two of the most familiar chlorine compounds are sodium chloride (NaCl) and hydrogen chloride (HCl)
sodium chloride is salt!!!
Chlorine as chloride from salt--
(Chlorine is produced by passing an electric current through a solution of brine (common salt dissolved in water). This process is called electrolysis. The chemical term for salt is sodium chloride (NaCl). Essential co-products are caustic soda (sodium hydroxide or NaOH) and hydrogen (H2).)
Is chlorine a type of bleach or does bleach contain bleach,
(Common pool chlorine is made up of the chemical calcium hypochlorite at about 65 percent strength. ... Household bleach is a liquid that contains sodium hypochlorite, which is simply chlorine in its liquid form. Bleach, however, is typically only 5 to 6 percent chlorine.)
