crushed coral Empty crushed coral

just new to the forum and planning on coming down to the meeting to join up great site
just want to know can u get crushed coral or close to for substrate as im going to set up a 8x2x2
and the shops on the north side want to charge $350.00 for 80kg im doing a fish only tank if any one can
pass on some info that would be great

Hi bigbass,you could use marble,I don’t know what it costs but its calcium make up is suited to marine aquariums.

Taking shell grit, coral rubble isn’t allowed worse luck, not sure who sells what for how much either in relation to coral rubble.

Hopefully some one else has a better idea.

Crushed coral is always going to be expensive to buy. I used coral sand in my tank - it was a lot cheaper - $60 for a 20kg bag from Age of Aquariums. For a tank the size of yours you could go a mixture of crushed coral and coral sand to cut the costs a bit
