I'm after one or two brittle star. I know it's not common to keep it in the tank here in Australia, but it's a terrific clean up crew, eating the pellets and flakes the fishes leave behind.

Does anyone know where I can get one?

Nearly every single spot we collect at, there are thousands of them.

Just be careful,(we do use them here for clean up crew, I have quite a few in my tank),the problem with some are the varieties that can attain a large size will hunt your fish and shedding shrimp at night when big enough and cause carnage over time.

In live rock as such that people buy you sometimes get the wrong ones as juveniles as with mantis shrimp, but at least you can hear them, the brittles hide until night of course so you don’t see them much until fish disappear for no apparent reason, crabs or brittles account for a lot of that.

This is from experience not info from the net.

Smooth arms and one colour all over are the ones to get!

When you sterilize your rock and introduce things at your leisure to attain a reef set up, it works out better.

Thank you very much Ignobolis. I do want two small ones, if possible. Will you attend the next collecting dive on March 10th? I live very far from where the meetings take place, so I'd rather pick them up on the beach!

liquidg,
I know there are very bad brittle stars. Smooth arms and one colour is the type I'm after. Thanks for the hints.

Cheers
Rod

I'd love to mate! Thank you very much! I was thinking about two, but looking at how big it is I reckon one will be enough.

Cheers
