Is there such a thing as "Corkscrew Coral" ?
Went reef fishing off the Gold Coast a couple of weeks ago. At one spot all we found was what can best be described as red corkscrew coral. the 'stuff' was loosely coiled, about 2 foot (600mm) high, about the thickness of fencing wire and bright red to orange in colour.

corkscrew?
Yep,it's a type of antipatharian coral, they can be called wip or basket, etc corals, though the actual wip corals are gorgonian.
They look more like an uncoiled spring more so than a corkscrew.
Very common in deep water with low to no light, they are heavily planktonic food dependent, may as well be of the gorgonian family.
