Buffalo grasses and How to spray buffalo grass for weeds, with out killing it.
Within the range of buffalo species, with the family name stenotaphrum, there are a few and all originally came from North America originally making them quite resistant to the cold.
They are supposedly resistant to shady spots and they are slightly, but don’t rely on these to be any good at it long term.
There is sir Walter, made here in Aus, then palmetto which is what sir Walter was made from, then prestige and sapphire.
With good conditions, the one called sir Walter that was developed in NSW in the 90s will possibly drive you nuts with its speed of growth.
All broad leaf grasses are easily killed off with the selective herbicide called kamba or Di-kamba, it leaves only couch and kikuyu alive.
All herbicides are sort of safe, but you need to use it in a safe way, even tap water or salt are dangerous if used incorrectly!
Herbicide/weed killer story in the courier mail today! They are concerned about glyphosate use and mentioned Round up??
Round up is just one of 82 varied herbicides containing glyphosate?
Get it right folks! Sure Monsanto first invented it, no they didn't, it had been used as a pipe cleaner for years before musunto grabbed it, but so many other companies make their own now.
Anyway bin-di is the big one these days, the only selective herbicide to be safe to spray on buffalo and couch grasses to only kill weeds, finally something to get us away from the stinking Kamba and dicamba, nasty shit that one, it kills al broad leaf grasses as well as weeds!
