suffering coral??? or just paranoia
hi guys ive recently added a few corals to my reef tank and have been a-bit surprised that this fella is quite temperamental, i have seen it all out at different times but for the last couple of days this side wont come out at all
my tanks levels are, ph at 8.2, calcium at 460, KH at a fair bit over 200, no amonia, and the phosphates are bearly reading 0.25
i did this morning squirt come brine shrimp mixed up with coral snow into each of the corals and id say from a novice point of view that they do look abit more lively this afternoon.
does anyone know of a reasont hat this coral would appear to be suffering on one side, could it be to do with current and water movement on that side of the coral or not, ??
thanks in advance for any replies!

Re: suffering coral??? or just paranoia
The reasons for this are very diverse in their possibilities Callum.
The current, maybe?
Something making contact with this part of the coral?
If so there can problems with coral aggression or invert species that annoy corals.
The lightings affects or lack of on that part of the coral!
KH not consistent or just over all water parameters unseen out of wack and that KH you have, thats very high!
That white film below the coral on the old dead coral, what is that?
The coral, is it euphyllia paradivisa, what is the species?
Hopefully it will be okay.

Oh,but that KH you are testing, that should be any where from 8 to 15,I always try for 10 constant!
The ocean runs at 7 normally.
