Just got a new 2ft cube aquarium to finish it’s cycling, put in some algae and a small piece of jardini.
I lost most life on the original live rock from the lfs, there wasn’t much on there,so yeh!
My worry is the algae has turned almost a black colour, maybe it’s a very dark green, can't tell, and the jardini is not happy, can I get a solution from you guys on my problem.

Dude I would be thinking about your nutrient levels and nitrate!
Is your skimmer kicking butt?
Water quality will give you that kind of algae, or at least make the algae go that colour.
Why don’t you give your tank a big water change, couldn't hurt cheers

I'd be checking the usual suspects ammonia/nitrate/nitrite. Also what sor or lighting do you have and where have you put the coral?

You are right the test shows nitrate to the ceiling and impellor in the pump for the skimmer has died, may have been for a long time.
I can't get into my sump area easily to check on things. Mad
The jardini is up high near the T5s,time for a new pump and a trip for a water change.
Thanks all.

Do some water changes to help get nitrate back under control while you are sorting out the skimmer issues.

Jardini are happier on the sandbed, they don't require as much light as many other corals (they also like to be fed directly with a small piece of fish/shrimp etc a couple of times a week, though this is not essential)

The dark algae happened to my aquarium as well while it was doing the nitrite cycle
This reef aquarium hobby has so much to learn with it
